Environmentally Friendly Travel
Tour de Asia works hard to promote responsible, yet enjoyable travel wherever it goes. Ecotourism has many different meanings to many different type of people, we take it to mean something based on these ideals.
• minimize impact to surroundings
One of the beautiful things about cycling is that your are naturally treading lightly on the earth, unlike cars and heavy vehicles we leave little destruction behind. Take 1000 bicycle or 250 cars down the same roadways cycling will win very time. We also ensure we deal with our rubbish the appropriately as possible.
• cultural awareness and respect
Have spend along time in the regions we tour, we are familiar with local custom and try our hardest to not only participle but educate our riders as well as others about what should and should not be done. No one is prefect, but effort goes along way in the eyes of locals and guests alike.
• provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts
Our journey takes us along way and thru many places, and even though some might experience the desire for things from home, we try wherever possible to eat from local 'mom and pop' restaurants and take breaks near locals people refreshment stands. We understand sometime you'll need food from back home, but give you all the opportunities to try the local food and drink and enjoy the environment you are in.
• provide financial benefits and empowerment for local people
Leading by example is a very strong and powerful tool, seeing rich (in their eyes) foreigners choosing to ride a bicycle for tourism and entertainment, promotes that motorcycles and cars are not important to some. You'd be surprise at the 'thumbs up' you'll get from locals on their single speed 1970s bike as they ride towards you living there normal everyday lives.
• local culture, flora and fauna being the main attractions
Rolling past at 15-20kms/10-15miles per hour you'll be amazed at how much more you will see and smell on your journey. We travel beach side, mountainside and through farmlands. It's important to stop and enjoy the view as you go, taking the time to fully enjoy a bicycle tour is important, it will not take you long to slow down and relax. Our rides are not races and you'll get to understand the local people and culture if you take the time in observer and enjoy.
• affordability and lack of waste in the form of luxury
Lastly this is not a 5 star trip, it's a trip with a little big of very thing, somethings what is strange to your is totally normal for someone else, you're ability to accepts and enjoy the difference is let you become a better tourist, ecotourism has something to do with the participant stepping outside there normal world, spending some time thinking and maybe feeling what is must be live to live in the region your visiting.
We're sure that ecotourism means different things to others, but basically we trying to reduce the impact on our surroundings whilst enjoy and experience what the local region has to offer.
