Taking Healthy Holidays

Obviously if you planning on riding one or more segments of a ride then you've got some interesting in having a healthy holiday. In the past we've had all types of people on out rides, young, old, active cyclists and people that haven't hit a bicycle in a long time.

Our older rider was 80 plus years and travel over 900 kms with ease, and we've had people that didn't do any training and not been on a bicycle in over 15 years. Both made it with easy, firstly because they wanted to achieve something personally and secondly it's not that hard.

We take 20-25km bites is chunks at riding with so many regular breaks that your body can catch up and keep you moving towards the end of the day.

If you didn't know it already, cycling is once of the least impact and lowest energy sapping way of getting around, compared to running of jogging it's obviously much easier, but it's even easier that walking. The only real difference if you've been walking everyday of your life.

Doing only 25 km at your own paces is easy, and since hardly any of our days enter triple digits even the slowest ride will only spend 6 hours in the saddle.

Along benefit is riding with a group is easier that riding along, if you can push yourself to ride 40 kms at home, you can most likely ride 100 kms in a group with plenty of breaks.

Another thing is getting ready for this Holiday experience is going to be a healthy also, just get on a bike and start doing some 20 km rides, then 30 km and finally push yourself as hard as you can.

But don't worry, we've got a support car which is there to take you if it's just  to hard for you, but in all honesty only 3% of our riders ever get in a take a ride, why... because we take it nice and easy and make it fun not like work.

Of course if you want to get out and practice before the ride, try riding every other day for as long as you can, push it up 1 hour on and 30 minutes off, you'll be amazed at how far you can do in a day.

Drinking plenty of waters, eat snacks along the way but don't go crazy. Some people like sports drinks and some people don't but it's mostly up to you, riding is easy and fun.
